Built for British Columbia

More than 25,000 km of coastline. A roof that cannot rust.

BC is a coastline, a rainforest, a snow belt and a fire zone, sometimes on the same drive. Here is what an Interlock® aluminum roof does about each.

Salt air

Aluminum cannot rust

There is no iron in aluminum, so there is nothing to rust. It forms its own thin oxide layer, which re-forms if the surface is scratched. That is why it is the metal for oceanfront homes, island cabins and anywhere the wind carries salt.

Wildfire

Class A Fire Rated Available, as a complete assembly

Under ASTM E108 a fire classification belongs to an assembly, not a panel. On our roofs Class A is achieved with two layers of GAF VersaShield® over 12 mm (15/32-inch) plywood, and the aluminum itself does not ignite. Ask us to quote the assembly if your home backs onto forest or grassland.

Reflectance

Reflectance, rated colour by colour

Most Alunar® colours are rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC), which publishes each colour's solar reflectance (0.25 to 0.44 when new) and thermal emittance (0.83 to 0.86). Lighter and metallic colours reflect more. The Alunar® finish is warranted for 30 years.

Energy

Colour and summer heat

Lighter colours absorb less summer sun than dark ones. What that saves depends on climate, colour, insulation and attic ventilation, so we don't quote a figure.

Solar

The roof to put solar on

A solar array lasts 25 to 30 years. Put it on an asphalt roof and the panels often have to come off and go back on when the roof wears out underneath them. On an Interlock roof they come off at the end of their own life, not the roof's. Standing Seam takes clamp mounts with no holes drilled; the other profiles use mounting hardware made for metal roofing. At roughly 2 to 3.5 kg per square metre the roof leaves more of the structure's capacity for the array, and your solar installer confirms the framing.

Wind

Locked on four sides

Interlock panels lock to each other on all four sides, with no exposed fastener for a storm to work at. Wind resistance is warranted to 193 km/h (120 mph) installed to manufacturer specification.

What matters where you live

Wet winters, hot summers, outflow wind in a cold snap, and acreages with more than one roof.

Hot summers

Lighter colours reflect more of the summer sun; how much that saves depends on climate, colour, insulation and ventilation.

Outflow wind

Panels locked on four sides; wind warranted to 193 km/h installed to manufacturer specification.

House, shop and barn to match

One profile and colour across every building on the property.

Where we've worked

169 roofs in the Fraser Valley. Here's where.

From Abbotsford and Mission to Chilliwack, Agassiz and Hope, we install the Interlock® aluminum roofing system on homes, shops and acreages across the valley. The panels are made in Canada at the Interlock plant in Delta, BC.

Completed Interlock® roofs by community, from our job book. Every other part of BC has its own local site: same company, same crews, same warranty.

Why this system, in the Fraser Valley

What a BC winter does to a roof. And what aluminum does about it.

    Rain & heat

    Wet winters, then hot summers

The valley floor spends much of the winter wet, and the summers run hotter and drier than the coast, especially toward Chilliwack and Hope. Cedar and asphalt age fast under that swing. Aluminum absorbs nothing and cannot rot, and the manufacturer's coating warranty spells out the fade and chalk limits.

    Wind

Outflow wind in a cold snap

When Arctic air drains out of the interior, the Fraser Canyon funnels it down the valley, and Hope, Agassiz and Chilliwack take the brunt. Interlock panels lock on all four sides with the fasteners concealed. Wind resistance is warranted to 193 km/h (120 mph) installed to manufacturer specification.

    Acreages

    Farm country and acreages

Plenty of our valley work is on rural homes with outbuildings and long rooflines. The same profiles go on a house, a detached garage or a shop, so everything on the property can match and carry the same system.

    Fire

Fire season reaches the valley too

Summers are drier toward the east end, and homes near forest or grassland carry real wildfire exposure. Class A is available on our roofs as a complete assembly (two layers of GAF VersaShield® over 12 mm (15/32-inch) plywood, per ASTM E108), and aluminum does not ignite.

    Recycled

    Up to 95% recycled aluminum

And the last tear-off your house is likely to need.

    Straight answers

What BC homeowners ask us first.

    All of our answers ↗

Which communities does this site cover?

Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Agassiz, Cultus Lake, Rosedale, Hope and the Fraser Canyon, served from our Delta office. Langley and Aldergrove are at surreyroofing.com, and Maple Ridge at vancouverroofing.com. Same company, same crews and warranty.

Who is Interlock Metal Roofing (BC) Ltd.?

We are the certified Interlock® roofing contractor for British Columbia: a Canadian owned and operated BC company, founded July 6, 1983 as Interlock Industries (BC) Ltd., headquartered at 9969 River Way in Delta. We install one roofing system, the Interlock® aluminum roof, made in Canada by Interlock Roofing at the same address. We are BBB Accredited with an A+ rating, Baeumler Approved, and a 2026 GuildQuality GuildMaster Award winner.

What roof profiles can I choose from?

Five aluminum profiles (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile and Standing Seam), also available in solid copper. Slate is the most-installed profile in our BC job book, followed by Cedar Shingle and Shake. Every profile needs a minimum 3/12 roof slope. We bring samples to the visit so you can see each one against your house.

Is an Interlock roof fire rated?

Class A Fire Rated Available as a complete assembly. Under ASTM E108 a fire classification belongs to the assembly, not the panel; on our roofs Class A is achieved with two layers of GAF VersaShield® over 12 mm (15/32-inch) plywood. Aluminum itself does not ignite. If you want the Class A assembly, ask for it in your quote, where it is priced as a line item.

What warranties come with an Interlock roof in BC?

Two. The manufacturer, Interlock Roofing, gives the Guardian Lifetime Limited Material Warranty on the aluminum material and its factory finish. The installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (BC) Ltd., gives a 10 Year Limited Labour Warranty on the workmanship. They are separate documents with separate terms, and you can read both in full before you buy.

How much does a metal roof cost in BC?

Our metal roof cost page shows real price ranges from our own 2025 and 2026 BC contracts, as a rough guide only: prices vary from job to job with the roof's structure and other conditions, and an in-home roof consultation is required for accurate pricing. The biggest factors are roof area, pitch and complexity (valleys, dormers, skylights and chimneys), what is under the old roof, the profile you choose, and options such as the Class A fire-rated assembly, snow guards or hidden gutters. Steep lots, stratas and island or ferry sites change the logistics too. You get a fixed price in writing, and anything the deck needs goes into that quote, not into a change order later. Call (604) 210-3850 to book the visit.

    Free, no obligation

    Let's plan your last roof.
